You can now jailbreak iPhone 3.1, with an older version of the redsn0w software. I don't recommend you jailbreak yet because you may end up having to jailbreak again once the newer redsn0w sofware is released.
But if you're anxious to update then go ahead and jailbreak! Enjoy the iPhone 3.1 update.

Logic much?
After reading that post I upgraded my 3G S to 3.1.... It didn't work and I can't downgrade.
So if you NEED the jailbreak (I don't) don't do it!
I didn't upgrade it but I erase it to restore again but Itunes said
the Iphone is not eligible to restore the 3.0.1
so please if there is anyone know how to restore....tell me how
ok i accidentily updated my 2g iphone to 3.1.can anyone explain to me how to jail break it?pls
