Still nothing. I'm trying since yesterday. Hundred times rebooted and reinsteted the simcard. Tried 0.9, 0.9.1 and 0.9.4, still nothing. I've got 2.2 and 02.28.00 BB and not even 1 try was successful. Tried all of the tutorials with BossPrefs and without it.
Amazing, the problem with the sim in and out is solved for me on tmobile in USA, but I still cant make out going calls.

I got mine working. installed bossprefs and yellowsn0w then disabled 3g in bosspref. rebooted waited 1 min (maybe a little more) Then sim in 10 sec sim back and worked...
Although after each restart I have to do the sim out back in procedure witch is quite annoying but nice to get working. anyway still just beta, so give them time to fix issues.

Still no luck :/ After several tries my 3rd party carrier, "3" shows up. But I am not able making any calls and after dialing I've lost the carrier again.
Anyone know what to do? I've tried with and without the BossPrefs.

Much better than previous betas cheers. Works with Meteor and 02 in Ireland. Simple upgrade to 0.9.4 from 0.9.1 using Cydia, reboot using BossPrefs and it worked. Congrats!
still nothing here..
after upgrade no changes with the outgoing calls..before upgrade i had a signal but now i dont have...i think it make it worse
if you want to go back to 0.9.1
remove 0.9.4 from cydia, rebot the iphone
and then connect the iphone to the pc and download this software

after download, open it and choose single shot and it should bring back the signal on...all things will work beside the outgoing call beacuse its a know problem to most users who upgraded but sure better without any signal :)
just to let u know that if you use any AT&T phone service (include all Prepaids SIM and old Cingular services SIM), you dont need to jailbreak/unlock the iPhone. Just input the SIM and it works. This may sound duhh but hope it helps :) (I'm using old Cingular prepaid and it still works... about switching to T-Mobile)

reset your network settings after installing a new sim card it did help for my network signal problems.

i did have to take out the sim and put it in a few times.
now the only thing is that i CANNOT make outgoing calls. that is annoying.

if you want to go back to 0.9.1
remove 0.9.4 from cydia, rebot the iphone
and then connect the iphone to the pc and download this software

I am facing the same problems as everyone else is. I am able to get service on T-Mobile USA one i reset my nettwork settings and toggle flymode on and off a couple of times. But once i try and make an outgoing call it drop all service. Great work Dev team, keep it up.
Works great with Vodafone RO , i use cydia, bossprefs and reset network settings.

My problem was that I could not turn off EGDE with BossPrefs.
After a visit with Safari on my iphone on this page http://www.unlockit.co.nz/
...I could disable EDGE using BossPrefs.
Now everything is running super!
IPhone 3G Swisscom locked.
Tried with German carrier T-Mobile (PrePaid) and O2. Yellowsn0w 0.9.1 and 0.9.4 - both do not work. Getting no Carrier (null) (null).

I think I am going to get a heart attack here. I dont have a job but I depend on my phone. I feel like I just flushed $500 down the toilet being greedy just so I can have picture messaging. Now I have to go buy a G1 or something. I lost lots of important data I had on the iPhone also. =[ I know you guys meant will I am not mad at you guys I am frustrated with myself. I think the biggest mistake was going ahead & upgrading the baseband. I was shocked to read that step & actually do it, but since that I have not slept, I have tried everything I could think of & what others suggest, downgrade, restore. I got so desperate I did a head on full itune firmware restore. Nothing helps though because that baseband is blocking anything from happening. I have a brick. A pretty white brick. I dont even think I will be able to sell it to help me buy a phone to make calls with or have texting. Please keep working on this. I know I am not the only one about to have a heart attack. I didnt even go out to party New Years Eve because I was wanting this unlock so bad. I kept checking like every 5 minutes al the way until 430ish-am EST. I cant even do anything my mind is so worried about this. I know this is free & we did it at our own risk. Only person to blame for this is ourselves. =[

It's the same, I need to take out and reinsert the SIM or turn off and on air plane mode after update 0.9.4.
Incomming calls and sms works great but outgoing dosen't work.
Gives beep twice like network is not supporting the call.
Works with 3uk, only within 3g area, is there away for it to pick up signal on the GSM networks like its suppose too??

I get unstable signal strength after 0.9.1. My phone started to spontaneously reboot and hangs there randomly after 0.9.4.
And of course I popped another SIM in, and does not pick up the carrier.

Im using CCT in the British Virgin Islands and everytime I try to make a call it says call failed and I lose all my bars and turn on and off flight mode to get it back, I can receive calls though, and also I can send and receive text messages. Any fix for this?
Hello everyone, I had the "invalid SIM" message so I couldn't get my 3rd party SIM to work. Although somehow I got signal 2 times, using 0.91 but I decided to upgrade to 0.94, and I tried everything...bossprefs...remove and inserted SIM over a million times, etc... But by reading a post in the Dev Team's blog, I did as follows:
1) Downloaded Mobile Terminal from Cydia
2) Inserted my 3rd party SIM
3) Reinstalled Yellowsn0w
4) Ran MobileTerminal (without rebooting)
5) Typed yellowsn0w -h (which gives you the options available to run yellowsn0w.
6) Typed yellowsn0w -r (which releases the firmware)
I immediately got my service provider name, and a few seconds later I got signal.
Hope this works for you!!!
Try this way 99% it should works. It works for me and tried twice with ETISALAT in DUBAI/ UAE.
1. Install BossPref or SBSetings from Cydia
2. Install fist Yellowsn0w 0.9.1.(You can download it from http://hacxip.com/hacx/3gunlock.zip)
3. Restart/ reboot your iphone with BossPref/SBSettings
4. Wait for 1-2 minutes after reboot
5. Remove SIM and insert after 30 seconds or try Airplane mode ON for 30 seconds and turn it off
6. Just upgrade Yellowsn0w with 0.9.4 (do not uninstall 0.9.1)
7. Reboot/ restart your iphone with BossPref/SBSetting
8. Wait for 1-2 minutes after reboot
9. Remove SIM and insert after 30 seconds or try Airplane mode ON for 30 seconds and turn it off
10. Wait for a 1-2 minutes
11. After reboot try Airplane mode ON/OFF
99 % it should works.
for all those who has the problem of not being able to make calls, try resetting your network settings. worked for me. Provider: LIME (formerly BMobile in British Virgin islands)
Aloha My Friends - A little help for you to those people that having problem with No Network and (null) (null) on carrier.. Here is the fix.. Insert your Turbo sim that should recognize your carrier then after that remove turbo sim and insert yout Tmobile or any 3rd party sim card wait for a minute or 2 turn on fly mode wait a minute or 2 then turn off fly mode t-mobile should show up.. Hope this will help you...

I am back, the writer of Post 25.... now I get service with german O2. This was my solution:
3G, EDGE, WIFI on
1. reinstall yellowsn0w 0.9.4
2. leaving cydia via "Back to Cydia"
3. press Home - Button
4. put off the phone via power button
5. put on the phone
4. after boot... wait a minute or two
5. get out the sim card
6. wait 15 sec !!!!!!!! IMPORTANT!
7. push it back in phone
8. service after 5 sec.
but:
- I cannot recieve calls
- I cannot recieve SMS
- I cannot send SMS
- sometimes I lost the service... with flight mode on / off getting it back in seconds.
3G, outgoing calls... fine and no problems.

ATTENTION EVERYONE ON T-MOBILE!!
After staying awake all night I have finally discovered the issue with the "out-going calls" problem on T-Mobile.
When you run yellowsn0w, it somehow alters your t-mobile sim while doing the unlocking process. This will make it impossible for that sim card to ever make outgoing calls again.
To solve this problem I simply went to t-mobile, asked them for a replacement sim card (a fresh new sim card with my number on it) popped it in and walla! A fully unlocked Iphone 3g on T-mobile with fully functionality !!
This solution has seem to worked on 2 iPhones I have unlocked with T-mobile so far. Please let me know if it works for anyone else!
both my iphones r not working since 0.9.1. im on rogers in canada and phone is locked into fido (same company two different locks! pure stupidity).
with 0.9.1 i can get "no service", but with 0.9.4 there's only "invalid sim", followed all the steps.
dev team please bring back my $900 investment to life.

I have wasted the whole yesterday but there's nothing.
Finally, i recongnize that the problem comes form CODE PIN. So to unlock, you have to desactive CODE PIN by another phone. And the problem is solved. After that it tooks 5min to unlock my Iphone 3G

Yep, still no luck with Tmobile in Texas. Tried using .91 and .94, same results. No service after 2 minutes if you remove and reinsert the card, and invalid sim if you leave the card in and toggle airplane ode.

I got my Tmobile USA to pop up now and i can recieve calls, send and receive text or use the Edge. What are the correct Edge settings and has anyone got the internet to work on tmobile yet?

Hi all!!! i have a 3g ATT iphone... i live in america, but i grew up in italy...im back in italy now for Vacation... well long story short i couldnt put any other sim in my iphone (obviously) so i was stuck with a 5 year old NOKIA :(
i was very happy about the yellowsn0w coming out... like most of you i was like WTF when it didnt come out on new years :P
then my firt attempts did not work with both 0.9.0 and 0.9.1 ...
but now with the 0.9.4 I UNLOCKED IT!!! :D
all i did was update it with CYDIA,
then turned off my phone inserted my third party sim card (in my case a very old TIM sim card)
and turned it back on and i have full bars and can make and receive calls!!!
im not sure if i did anything different from you guys... but i hope this helps!! :D

My phone work perfectly with the unlock.
I'm using iPhone 3G 2.2 from Indonesia with Matrix provider.
I have unlocked mine iphone 3g. 2.2 initially it was giving me carrier null null until i removed sim pin. then toggled flymode on and off. but my problem is that when i make a call or receive you will not hear until you first click on the loud speaaker then tap it again to go back to the normal speaker it again. could anyone have heard of this issue. am very sure its because of the carrier sim application such us top up credit , lotto numbers and such . anyone with the idea or should we wait for the yellowsn0w update

On t-mobile. 0.9.1 and 0.9.4 both didn't work for my girlfriends t mobile sim...it wouldn't ever come up with service no matter what we tried. But mine worked right away when I put my t mobile sim in...still like every other t mobile comment.. NO outgoing calls, everything else is fine.

I agree with 53. When i pop my sim card back into my sidekick, it works fine so the sim card is fine. I was getting service with the .91 but nothing with .94. Dev team, can you guys please focus on TMOBILE issues, I know it sounds kind of selfish but almost all TMOBILE customers are stuck with 2.2 and our turbo sims don't work anymore
In response to my previous post:
I have discovered now that the reality to the T-mobile no outgoing call problem does indeed depend on the age of the sim you are using.
Order sim cards(with tmobile icon on one side and all white on the other side) will allow you to make outgoing calls while newer sims(with a graphic on the opposite side) will not.
You can try your local tmobile stores to see if they have older sims they can swap out for you as a solution until the dev-team fixes this bug. They are aware of it.
Another solution is to ask your family and friends who use tmobile to try their sims in your phone. If you are lucky, one of them is bound to work making calls. If they will allow you, you can call 611 and request a sim card swap with the numbers. It takes T-mobile 24-48 hours to process the request but it is a solution to the problem until the dev team can update the software.
As a side note: my previous message about the altering of the sim was a hunch and nothing more, since I had gotten other T-mobile sims to work that hadn't been in the phone during yellowsn0w installation. I have now ruled that out and replaced my theory with a stable solution and answer.
Me again, is it just me or the yellowsn0w dude that made the video never tried to call out, he only received calls, sounds suspect..

I got my iphone 3g unlocked and working yesterday. No problems with calls or anything elese whatsoever... Until today. The battery died and I recharged it, but ever since it doesn't recognize the sim. I installed the new version of yellowsn0w and followed the instuctions but still nothing. Any idea what is going on?
yeah to get the internet to work on T-Mobile USA go to your apn settings and type in epc.tmobile.com
that should get your edge internet to work on tmobile usa

took some work to get the service and bars up, multiple reboots pulling in and out, reseted network settings.
on the last try got the service and bars to come in... confirmed the text messaging in and outgoing to work got incoming calls to work.... only thing that didnt work is outgoing calls
also when u try to go to contacts or keypad voicemail etc the phone kinda lags or freezes then the service drops...
Also friend couldnt sync with iTunes? weird?

simply:
reinstall yellowsn0w WITHOUT a simcard in and turn off iphone
put in your new sim and turn on iphone
wait at home screen for at least a minute

turned off Wifi via BossPrefs and rebooted, about 20 seconds after reboot got TMobile 4 to 5 bars. HOORAY!, but only for emergency calls. AWWWWWW! I can receive calls just not make them. I could also turn on wifi again. Looks like I'm up to the same point everyone else is.
Tonight is the third time I unlock iPhone 3g (for convenience I'll simply call it 'ip3' from here on). I'm an USA T mobile user. Earlier I posted that I had my ip3 unlocked yesterday and today after my battery died and I recharged it, it didn't recognize my sim. After that I no matter what I was doing I couldn't make it to work... Until now!
Here's what worked for me.
1)I restored the ip3 in iTunes.
2)Jailbroke it with QuickPWN_v2.2
3)Started Cydia and updated it(it automatically prompts you for that, once the phone is freshly jailbroken).
4)I think this here is important (DEV-TEAM pls confirm if I'm right)... I put my T mobile card in and then...
5)Install yellosn0w 0.9.4
6)Once installed I went back to the Home screen of Cydia
7)Restarted my ip3
8)Nothing happened after the restart
9)I took the sim out and put it back again...
and again nothing happen
10)I turned my ip3 off(not restart it)
11)After few seconds I turned it back on
AND IT FOUND MY PROVIDER!!!
Now I'm not sure if I just got lucky again but it was very similar process to the first time I unlocked this phone and one other.
Hope this help people to get their phones working!

Oh if it makes a difference, the bars disappear as soon as I try to make a call and the call fails, and occasionally the bars drop about once a minute, come back up, the bars come back for a few seconds, and the E for emergency calls only reappears and disappears after about 30 seconds. T-Mobile does appear as the carrier. If you need me to post any info just ask and I'll tell you what I get out of the terminal. Do be explicit instructions as I am a newb at this.
If you are unable to make outgoing calls when you enable 3G, try to turn on data roaming. It works fine after i did this!

I installed yellowsn0w and tried all instructions but it doesn't work. BUT when I did reset my network setting then switch the fly mode on then off it worked.
Now, every time I need to restart the phone then its the signal is off again. BUT simply do only fly mode on/off thingy to make it work again.

never work with all manipulation writed here in FRANCE...sorry but we have to wait a little bit more for the moment...
it finally works. just intall it through the installer. then install it also on cydia and wait for signal to appear. if you still cant get signal, just enable flight mode momentarily and then disable it again. you should be able to get a signal within 5 seconds or less! you dont even have to reboot! It works for me!

I'm in Saudi Arabia, I was getting sick of Turbo SIM that screwed up my lock by getting stuck.
I installed Yellowsn0w yesterday and it worked in first go. Here is what I did.
1. Upgraded to 2.2 with my original Bharti Airtel (India) SIM inside.
2. Restored from the back up.
3. pwned using QuickPwn for Windows Jailbroke it.
4. Kept everything off, 3G, Wifi etc.
5. Installed yellowsn0w.
6. Turned phone off.
7. Inserted my STC SIM
8. Started the phone again, when the phone started it accepted the SIM but the signal would go off every few seconds, it kept doing that for like few minutes like 10 or 20 minutes then it stabilized and phone started working fine.
My SIM wasn't 3G enabled so I went to STC and got new 3G SIM inserted it, no problems works fine.
Tried it with Jawal and Mobily both services in Saudi Arabia work fine no problems.
Hardest part was teaching my wife to use my old 2G iPhone :(

i found the Solution of the outgoing calls
1. install your sin in any nokia phone
2. go to settings/call settings/number sending
3. select (on)
now install it in your iphone and have fun

Ok, I have finally gotten it to work now, with outgoing calls, TMOBILE USA.
1) Install yellowsn0w 9.5
2) follow all the steps by comment 83,(Everystep)
3) Reboot thru BossPref
4) Wait a minute for signal to appear
5) APN for tmobile is internet2.voicestream.com for edge or epc.tmobile.com for t-zone

OK I finally managed to get mine working...
Vodafone in the the UK.
I followed all the instructions given above, but no luck... the "searching" for signal was very short (<1s) and I had a single bar for a very long time and then NO SIGNAL.
This is the trick I used:
1. Install BossPrefs and Yellowsn0w from Cydia
2. Disable everything in BossPrefs
-> also disable EDGE and data roaming from settings
3. Reboot your iPhone using BossPrefs
4. Wait 1.30 min when you see lockscreen
5. Take your sim out and insert it
6. Wait a moment
7. In settings turn on Fly Mode
8. Turn off Fly Mode
9. Your iPhone 3G should be working now!
-> Up to here it did not work...
Now follow the below:
10. Turn on Data roaming and turn on EDGE
11. Now repeat the flight mode, on off
12. Searching should not be <1s but much longer now, if this is the case, then you will get signal within 10s.

Hey guys thanks for everything. Next time I will wait until final version of software & not install beta. I went to TMobile store picked up a new Sim Card, still waiting for it to kick in, but the Tmobile store guy sent me to a 3rd party dealer a block away to help me with my white brick & he had the new turbo sim chips, cost me $70 but oh well, at least now I am connected to the Matrix again. Keep up the good work guys! =]

I've tried EVERYTHING! I have Tmobile USA and it keeps giving me the "invalid sim" ??? Any ideas?
I get the same. Basically it's just a beta program and they've released it so everyone can try (at their own risk) it as some people have success.
I've decided to quit trying now until they have a new version that'll work.
For now it's just a 2G iPod Touch :)
G'day from GREECE. I used this little app from http://hacxip.com/hacx/3gunlock.zip and it worked just fine for me, the only thing is that you need pc, but thank God to apple my macbook pro 2.5Ghz intel based has got windows as well and i got it working. 'cause it's a windows app. The thing is that i had to restart it a couple of times, take out the sim card a couple a times and turn on airplane mode a couple of times, Just be patient and it will work on cosmote or wind. I installed 9.4 on Jan 2 and it works at the first time. Well done Dev Team. I also installed the 9.5 and it works.
I unlocked the phone only because I am using the phone in other countries when I traveling, in the US i am still using the ATT. I found when I use ATT SIM here in the U.S, the signal goes ON and OFF every few minutes. it seems went to search for other carrier and then comes back the ATT. Is anyone found this problem?

I found the reason!
I changed the SIM card after Unlocked and without reboot it.
To solve this problem: put in the SIM card you want to use and then using the BossPref to reboot with the SIM you want to currently use. then it will stay on whatever the carrier the SIM card belongs. If you changed the SIM, make sure to reboot with the new SIM card installed.

i managed to get t-mobile uk working after a lot of playing about with different methods -
1.install yellowsn0w
2.turn off the phone
3.insert new sim
4.turn on phone with new sim
5.go to settings and turn off 3g and turn on airplane mode
6.reboot with airplane mode still on
7.turn off airplane mode and you should connect to t-mobile straight away.
8.turn on 3g

I am using 0.9.5 for testing "ON/OFF" problem, it works fine. In Dev's instructions it says need using BossPref to reboot, and i think it is a good advise.
the boss pref update must be download this will allow to turn yellosn0w on/off this will the problem when turn off the iPhone or rebooting. This comes very handy if u only want the unlock to temporary
Works Fine. Most of the issues resolved but still got the problem with Appstore. My t-mobile UK sim works brilliant. Can make and receive calls. Internet works fine except AppStore. "Could not retrieve download information", Please connect to iTunes.

Everything is ok except the KeyPad is locked after one day. I don't know what I did. But can make a call from those person from the contact list.
But the hung up button is not available. Any Idea ?
I realize that the outgoing key pad is locked, and I uninstall unnecessary applications. Finally, it becomes normal. It is not because of Yellowsn0w, it is because of application that makes your phone to freeze keypad.

I tried for two weeks to unlock my iPhone 3G (2.2) using yellowsn0w and Quickpwn and was about to give up when I tried one last thing....AND IT WORKED!! After Jailbreaking thru Quickpwn and downloading yellowsn0w via Cydia go into the Settings/Reset/Reset All Setting...and then mine worked! :) ~D
i had the "SIM FAILURE" problem, reinstalling yellowsn0w without the sim card inserted and rebooting worked for me

you've dropped your phone and cracked an internal deal that can only be fixed by taking the phone apart. i sent my phone into to iresq, but and they fixed it but it wasn't put back together very well.
